My goal as a voice and piano teacher is to encourage musical growth that will expand each student’s appreciation of and love for music. Students learn to understand and perform a variety of music in numerous styles.

Vocal students develop techniques in breath management, vocal range, foreign language, diction, stage presence, memorization and presentation. I also implement a body-based method of vocal training which is based upon voice science and medicine as well as traditional classical vocal training, contemporary commercial style techniques, along with complementary modalities such as yoga, movement, dance, acting and speech training, and various bodywork approaches. My goal is to draw the mind of the singer into the physical process of making sound.

Teaching Philosophy

Piano students develop skills in sight-reading, ear-training, music theory, knowledge of music history as they relate to the pieces being studied, memorization and presentation. Lessons will also help students to keep a positive outlook when facing difficult tasks. The understanding that mastering a new skill is a process that requires patience helps children to approach tasks with confidence, and not become discouraged or frustrated. Increased eye-hand coordination, increased focus and concentration skills will also be gained. Lessons are one on one and designed to be fun!
